Roswell also is the home of a premier military college, an annual state fair, recently became home of the National Championship Air Races, and hosts numerous festivals related to food, culture, arts, and music.

The Roswell Parks Department maintains more than 675 acres of property including parks, sports complexes, sports courts (such as tennis, pickleball, and basketball), playgrounds, and recreational trails.
The Bureau of Land Management’s Roswell Field Office manages approximately 1.5 million acres of public lands, including areas for hiking, camping, and hunting.
The Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge is just outside Roswell, NM, and was established in 1937, the same year as Atwood & Malone. It is a publicly accessible oasis that offers more than 24,000 acres of land crucial to migrating wildlife and conserving wetlands in the area.
Bottomless Lakes State Park is also just outside of Roswell, offering opportunities to picnic, boat, camp, hike, fish, swim, or scuba dive in the waters that are up to 90 feet deep.
